Book Binding - Create your own journal - Feb 26
Learn the lost ancient art form of book binding to create your very own journal, visual diary or memory keepsake.
In this 4 hour workshop you will learn the fundamentals of how to bind and create your own book using vintage, reclaimed, recycled and new paper, books and materials. Pull together these beautiful resources are create something as eclectic or as classic as your own taste dictates.
Jules invites you into her light and airy home studio where you are sure to be inspired to get creative surrounded by art.
Bookmaking is such a methodical and meditative practice that once learned can be used time and time again for yourself and for thoughtful gifts for your loved ones.
Jules will have a collection of vintage books and materials but you are encouraged to start collecting your own. Bringing new life to old art, we will be using the hard cover of old books as the cover for our new works of art. Jules has been collecting these and will have enough for each student but we encourage you to head down to the op shop or second hand book store and have a rummage for something, you may find a cover that you fall in love with, as long as it is A5 or smaller, bring it along. If you have any old magazines please bring them too, as we will stitch the new in with the old to create truly unique artworks.
All supplies are included along with your choice or of barista coffee (please let us know your coffee of choice in the order notes as these will be delivered)
With no experience necessary, Julianne will show you all the techniques needed for creating your own journal or diary with little or as much guidance as you like. Aphrodite Art School will have your creative goddess shining. Open to ages 14 and up.
Aphrodite Cottage (Jules’ Home Studio is at 51 Whitman Street, it is a white weatherboard cottage with a white picket fence. There is ample parking across the road, next to the caravan park.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Please read these carefully to ensure we are on the same page.
COVID- As a small business doing our best to remain sustainable, we are unable to offer refunds in most cases. If however, you are unable to attend class due to a directly Covid-related reason (e.g. the borders being closed, you are feeling unwell), we can offer a credit for you to attend at a later date if we are given at least 7 days notice. This is to ensure we have enough time to pass the ticket onto someone else.
+ If you can not make a class for whatever reason, unfortunately, we cannot refund or give credit due to the nature of these workshops. All purchases are final. However, we encourage you to send a friend along to take your spot!
CANCELLATION AND NO SHOW POLICIES
These policies are in place as a courtesy to our teachers and staff. We feel this is fair for them as our class sizes are limited, and by purchasing a ticket we:
Hold the spot for you
Pay the teacher for your spot, and time spent preparing materials
Purchase the materials required
Prepare morning/afternoon tea
For this reason if you forget to attend or have a prior commitment we are unfortunately unable to provide a refund, credit or transfer. In some cases we may be able to give you the materials and instructions to complete at home.
+ We have class minimums to meet, if we do not make them and need to cancel a class we may do so at any time and offer you a full refund or a credit to attend a class at the same value within a 12 month period.
+ Please set a reminder and double-check workshop dates + times here through our website. Unfortunately, because we have held this spot for you and turned others away we can not issue credits or refund if you don't show.
